Friday Favorites
| This short work week kicked my booty.
For real, it wasn't until Wednesday afternoon that I finally felt like I was getting back into my rhythm and recovering from the Labor Day long weekend...which was not at all wild or crazy! I don't know what it is about long weekends turned short work weeks that get me all messed up. My focus has been lagging and hard to keep together, but this week's Friday Favorites is a good one! So grab some coffee (or some spiked apple cider like I have in front of me), and enjoy my current favorite things from around the internet!
The Nike Ad heard Round the World | It's been hard to avoid, but the liberally-focused, socially boiling Nike ad featuring now fired 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick is making major waves. But in the same way the athletic mega brand is no stranger to walking into the thick of social commentary, neither is the conservatively charged response.
This. Foundation. | I recently picked up the new Nyx Can't Stop Won't Stop Foundation in the shade "Mocha" and have been LIVING for it! It stays matte for so long, does not break up when oils start to appear, does not settle into fine lines and looks so even when applied both with a brush or makeup sponge. For my combo oily/oily skin girls...definitely give this one a try! And did I mention it's less that $15!
1 Savage is Teaching Kids to Save Money | “They don’t teach you how to save your money or how to manage your money in school. I didn’t know nothing about bank accounts until I was probably about 23. I didn’t know nothing: how to operate a bank account, how to use a card, nothing. So I feel like if I would have learned that early on, I would’ve never made some of the mistakes I made.” If you ask me, that's an excellent platform to teach something so despatately needed in today's school system.
"My Truth" Videos are Taking of the Beauty YouTube | I don't have one specific direct link to this, but if you search "My Truth, beauty Community" in your nearest browser, you'll discover a pile of 8-10 day old videos of the industry-leading beauty gurus getting emotional all over your screens. These are wildly popular because the masses are here for every single drop of tea spilled, but really...is all of this really what we want? Pitting Youtubers against each other? Putting brands on blast so they no longer want to partner with our favorite beauty bloggers?
The News App that's Better Than News | This app is not new to me, but not matter how many times I upgrade my phone, this is always the second or third app to be downloaded. It's more than news but an interactive experience. Major bonus points are also given for the "Trump Snooze" button that will temporarily mute all Make America Great Again news unless it's something majorly important.
Love Loudly. Live Loudly.
